After Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie announced his wife Maria Cahill was pregnant with their fourth baby, she shared a message for others who’ve faced fertility struggles.

David Henrie and his wife Maria Cahill are embracing a magical moment in their lives.

The couple, who share kids Pia, 7, James, 5, and Gemma, 3, announced on Easter Sunday that they are expecting their fourth baby together, a little boy, after struggling to conceive.

“SURPRISE! Figured this moment was as good as ever to share the good news,” David wrote in his April 5 Instagram post. “Maria is 5 months pregnant!”

Alongside a selfie with his wife and a family photo—in which their three kids’ faces were covered with heart-eyed emojis—David explained the “crazy story” behind why becoming parents of four didn’t always seem possible.

“Long story short, Maria and I had made peace with the idea that the ‘big family’ dream might not be God’s plan for us,” the 36-year-old wrote. “Which was fine, we’re grateful for our 3!”

However, everything changed when they headed to Spain where David was filming the second season of his adventure documentary series Seeking Beauty.

“Through a miraculous encounter that would have never happened without @seekingbeauty.ewtn in Seville, Spain, and the intercession of St. Teresa of Avila,” the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place star explained, “we are having our 4th!”

But shortly after David shared the exciting news, Maria shared her own message on the That So Raven alum’s post.

“EDIT: Hi guys, it’s Maria here,” the 35-year-old wrote under David's original caption. “I stole his phone so I could type this—hope when he sees, he doesn’t mind. Hi, David!”

“While I’m so excited for David to share this with you, I also know that it can be so hard to read pregnancy announcements when you’re the one that’s trying to have a baby and nothing seems to be working,” she continued. “I’ve been there—trying to be happy for others but simultaneously grieving a happiness that I wish could have been mine.”

Though she was “so overjoyed to add” a little boy to their family, Maria noted, “I can’t help but think of all of you women. Know that I see you all, am thinking of you today, and are praying hard for your future pregnancies.”

Concluding her message, Maria emphasized how important it is to trust the process.

“It took many years for me to come to terms with letting go of what I pictured as my ‘perfect family’ but I PROMISE you that God’s will for us (or what He allows to happen) is beyond our understanding,” she wrote, “and one day, things will hopefully make sense. Love you, ladies.”

This isn’t the first time that the couple has opened up about the challenges they’ve faced on the road to parenthood. In March 2019, while announcing the birth of their eldest Pia, David expressed what it meant to hold their baby girl after Maria previously experienced three miscarriages.

“Today is a particularly special day for Maria and I... and it’s special because in order to get to where we are today, with the joy of our newborn in our arms, my wife and I went through trials,” he explained in an Instagram post. “I felt compelled to share this because I had no clue just how difficult trying to start a family could be.”

Three years later, the Wizards of Waverly Place alum revealed Maria experienced two more miscarriages before getting pregnant with their third child.

Through it all, David has remained in awe of Maria's strength, especially when it comes to their family.

"Watching my wife pour her days into our children has quietly rewired the way I see the world. There’s no applause, no résumé line, no quarterly report. Just meals made, tears dried, lessons repeated, prayers whispered, order restored again and again in small, almost invisible ways," he wrote on Instagram in December. "And yet… everything in our home rests on it… I’m endlessly grateful for my wife."
